5G network works in Australia? [Sony Xperia 1 III - 354627]

Hi, just wondering if this version of Xperia I III can connect to 5G network in Australia.

Saw some reviews that said it would have problems with the network including VoLTE. My current Xperia phone doesn't have any network issues, but this one was bought before Sony pulled out its mobile business from Australia.

The device supports voLTE and the following bandwidth.

  • Network: 5G: n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n28, n38, n40, n41, n77, n78, n79 / 4G: LTE Band 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 46, 66 / 3G Band 1/2/4/5/6/8/19 / GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Looking forward to your purchase.

Australian networks lock their 5G and VoLTE setting to phones sold officially in Australia. The Xperia 1 III may have the 5G network bands that Australian network uses but withouth the networks unlocking them to grey market phones, It will be harder to make it work. You will still have access to the 4G though. I have the Xperia 1 2019) on Telastra network. The phone supports VoLTE but because it's not officialy sold in Australia, I couldn't get the VoLTE to work.

hi. further to this question i just wanted to confirm something.

Sony Xperia 1 II was dual sim. but if 5G was turned on.. the SIM 2 would stay off and only  1 Sim would stay active.

What about Sony 1 III ?? is it Dual Sim 5G active.. or still the same. if you use 5G only 1 Sim will work and Sim 2 would stay off .. and only Dual 4G works. please clarify

It will be 5G / 4G respectively. SIM slot 1or 2 can be set as 5G while the orther will be 4G.
